  1. They will mostly break open on their own (to form a new feather). Mist your bird with warm water to soften the outer shell.  If your bird seems to be asking your help with a pin feather, gently pinch the tip of the pin (when it is ready it should be white at the tip) between your nails.

    Hope that helps!

  2. My bird has had this and i was panicking what to do!

but of course they went away by themselves!

  3. they should go away on their own, if they are still there in a week or two you might want to take him to a vet.

he gets them because he is molting but they usually don't stay for long.

  4. Your parakeet is probably moulting. The pin feathers should be plucked if they start to bleed excessively. If there is no bleeding then here's a few suggestions:

    - Lightly spray your bird with water twice a day. Misters aren't too expensive, and this will help soften the feathers and help them grow in better. It will also relieve some of the discomfort associated with moulting.

    - Make sure your bird has plenty of drinking water! Staying hydrated helps with moulting.

    - If you have only one bird, then gently help your bird groom her feathers. This can be done by simply giving her a gentle petting session :)

Don't worry, the new feathers will come in soon!

    Good luck!
