Things are not looking for the Breton club and the club’s owner has expressed his dissatisfaction with the way the club has stopped making good progress in Ligue 1
Owned by the Pinault family, Ligue 1 side, Stade Rennais is the third wonder of the PPR sports group. For years, the owners were happy to see the club making a lot of progress. However, it now appears that the club has de-tracked a wee bit in recent years
– something that annoys the owners a lot.
After spending a decent amount of money on new players in recent transfer windows, the Pinault family is still waiting to see progress which is not forthcoming.
Next Saturday, Francois-Henri Pinault, the son and successor of Francois Pinault, is set to publish his book regarding the club and its fans. And, a few excerpts of the book will give readers an idea of how much he is annoyed at certain players and the current
coach, Frederic Antonetti.
Pinault Jr in his book reveals that he and his father have been very complacent with the club and it is the only part of their business that has been affected. In recent months, Rennais’ players’ discipline has been called into question and Pinault feels
that when a player misbehaves, the club’s image is affected.
“With my father, we were too complacent with Stade Rennais because of our love for football. We are not too loose with our other businesses! We are simple people. This club is close to the education I received from my father. When a player misbehaves, it
is the club’s image that’s affected.”
Although he has not blamed Yann M’Vila, Pinault Jr is referring to the midfielder when he says that when a player misbehaves, it is not the club that advocates such things.
“He (Pinault Sr.) does not support the behaviour of the players as it is not a true determinant of our colours. This is unbearable. This kind of attitude puts my father in an incredible trance.”
Frederic Antonetti’s side has made a poor start to the new season. Although the ship has been steadied a bit, Pinault says that the expectations have so far not been met. For him, Antonetti is not the kind of coach who matches the tacticians of Marseille,
PSG or Lyon.
