im a 16 year old with the pinched nerve in the neck and lower spine. its been a year since i had this injury. for most people, the pain occurs but for me its the weakness. my whole right arm is weak. so about 2 weeks ago i went to chiropractor he adjusted my bones. and it feels alot better he told me to come everyday. so he correct the bone in the right position. it tingles sometimes around my spine, neck and whole arm and its anoying.

but what im worrying about is this going to be permanent damage?

  1. From my experience, I choose never to go back to a chiropractor!  As you said, you have to go everyday and the pain keeps coming back.  I am 22 years old and have been playing sports all of my life.  I have no medical background or have read anything about pinched nerves all I know is from experience and I have plenty of that.  It seems every year or so I get a pinched nerve and found that the best solution is plenty of rest and stretching.  The first day or two it is essential to stay in bed or on the couch but once it lightens up a bit, I suggest doing as much stretching as possible.  Also to prevent pinched nerves, stretching will help prior to workouts or any activity that involves heavy lifting or lots of twisting and turning.

  2. A 'pinched nerve' shouldn't need adjustment everyday.

As it is affecting your whole arm its likely the impingement is happening in the area under the clavicle or being squeezed by the pectoralis minor muscle.

In order for your whole arm to be affected from neck impingement you will need to severe restrictions in the C5 - T1 nerve roots. This is highly unlikely in a 16 year old.

Strong adjustments can give a local irritation and result in tingling. It is unlikely to lead to permanent damage though.

I suggest you see a practitioner that releases your muscles and joints but also gives you some exercises to help you make the changes permanent.

Talk to Friends and relatives and see what their experience was like with another practitioner and perhaps go and see them.

  3. i have done the chiro thing it seemed to help i also did the  deep tissue massages ( felt wonderful )  i think each person is diffrent i have  muscle and nerve dammage in my lower back from  a car accident years ago. Now i just have learned to deal with the pain  thur breathing etc. I do take advil , use  a shower massager and use a portable heating pad if needed. there are other things besided chiropractors.A chiro just moves things around abit and frees up the pinched nerves. after going for a month you should only have to go a few times a month. ask if they have a massage therapist, most of them do.If i am really bad i cheat and go to brookstones in the mall and use there massager or the massaging chairs heehee .. hope this helps.. your too young to be in pain . listen to the doctors
