I have a sharp pinching sensation on my left upper chest-low shoulder area. It has been on and off occasionally for the past two weeks. It has been more common some days than others. Does anyone know what this could be?

  1. Do you have any tingling senstation in your fingers? Check your blood pressure. Any pain in your back. This may be symptoms of a heart attack. PLEASE TELL ME MORE INFORMATION.

  2. I'm sorry about the pain you're experiencing. It really sounds like a strained chest muscle. I had what you described and was treated with an anti-inflammatory and was recommended to rest and apply ice to the area (of course I couldn't take time off work, so I just rest when I could).

Are you noticing specific things irritate it more than others - like being on the computer for a while or lifting your arm. Does slight stretching offer temporary relief?

You do need to talk to your Doctor, I think it's a strained muscle, but since we're talking about the area of your heart - he/she should rule out any other possibilities (since you're not having any other symptoms like shortness of breath, heaviness over the heart, etc,) I'm pretty confident we're talking about a strain. But, still whatever the case may be a Doctor will be give you proper treatment.

In the meantime try applying ice to the area 15 minutes, three times a time. Also Liquid Ibuprofen will offer relief.

If ANY other symptoms develop like HEAVINESS over your, intense pain, squeezing, pain that radiates to your jaw, dizziness.., call 911.

I hope you get relief soon.
