  1. ASPEN ASPEN ASPEN ASPEN!!! NO PINE NO CEDAR!!!! Those are very very poisoness! You can't even use a little bit it will kill your hamster!!! If you're worried about the smell they don't smell unless you dont clean the cage every once a week. PLEASE DONT BUY PINE OR CEDAR NO NO NO!! Good luck with your hamster!! :D

  2. Don't use pine at all! or not even cedar. Aspen is what i would recommend. Either that or some other type of bedding like carefresh.

  3. My vet told me the best thing for hamsters is actually Carefresh. They love it and it's soft, and the it absorbs odors really well. Carefresh isn't made out of pine or aspen though.  Here's a good site : http://www.hamsterific.com

  4. Pine is toxic.

    Aspen is not.

Would you ever use a product you knew was toxic? I hope not. Not a difficult decision.

By the way, cedar is also toxic. And in case you are looking for something other than aspen, carefresh is also great.

  5. Never use pine or cedar bedding.  The chemicals in the bedding are very toxic to hamsters.  I have used Carefresh for years and I have had no problems with it.  It is relatively inexpensive too.

  6. Just to reinforce all the answers, don't use pine or cedar!

aspen should be ok; I use carefresh.
