You know when you burn pine wood it hisses and crackles because there is some kind of inflammable stuff in the sap? Anyway, is it possible to drain off this fluid to use as fuel for something?

  1. It used to be farmed and marketed as Turpentine.

I have seen small dishes strapped to pine trees in Portugal and Landes region of France, a large strip of bark is removed above the dish and the tere weeps sap into the dish.

  2. Its the essential oils in the sap. However I have made incense with essential oils and still had to put in an additive to keep it burning.

The cost of having to plant pine trees, would be far more costly then something easier to grow as in Corn, or soy bean.  Also you have to think of the land. For a tree to grow it takes years, corn and soy only take a few months.
