  1. transplant into a mix of 50% quality potting soil and 50% sand. If your roots are starting you should have shoots popping up in no time!

  2. Cut the head off and plant directly into prepared pot of soil.   Pineapples are not the quickest to grow, it will usually take close to 1 year before you will get your own pineapple.  It has been a while since I grew pineapples, but you really have to be patient....and, when you finally get one, check the plant for babies, cause you can start new ones from them.

  3. Don't bother with the water. Cut the head off about   an inch into the fruit and plant it straight into potting mix. Water straight away and then once or twice a week.

I've grown several this way and haven't had one die yet.

  4. Plant the top straight into the ground.

If  you leave it in water the roots that grow are very weak and useless anyway. If you want to grow any plant in soil, always plant it into soil, rather than leaving it in water.

  5. mmmmm pineapple
