Question:

Ping G10 alternatives?

I'm going to purchase a new set of irons. I'm a 12 handicap and have tested the Ping G10 which I hit pretty well however I like the idea of a hybrid for my long irons (3-4 for sure). I'd rather not buy a set of new irons and have to buy an additional hybrid 3 (like I would with the Ping). Anyone have ideas on good sets to try? My budget is $700 and lower.

Thanks!

  1. Check out the Adams hybrid sets, and Cleveland has combined there 3 and 4 Hi Bore hybrid, with there CG gold 5 thru wedge. I bought my Dad a set of Nickent hybrid iron set. They came with 3 and 4 hybrids and there great clubs along with them you get a 5 thru 10 + PW. All of these fit your budget. Check with golfdiscount.com and thegolfwarehouse.com. It might be tgw.com. Good luck.

  2. My dad is a golf pro for ping in clevland and all ive ever played is ping i love them and i feel they preform the best i would go with tht

  3. Adams is always a good choice for hybrid inclusive sets. Cleveland and Nike have them as well. For your budget i would suggest taking a look at Cobras hybrid set (HFI I think).

But... Some of the hybrid sets run really expensive. You may find it makes sense to get the irons you like (Pings) and then drop $120 on last years hybrid from the manufacturer of your choice.

As a matter of fact - see if you can find Ping G5 irons and a Ping G5 hybrid - I'm not sure theres that big of a difference between the G10 and G5. G10 might have a bit wider sole.
