Question:

Ping after hitting my snare drum

when i hit my snare drum it makes an after pinging sound that sounds pretty horrible.

does anyone know how to fix this problem? do i need to tune it tighter? or ajust the snares or something?

  1. yes try the nob. it is a damper for over ring which is what you have.

    if that does not do it, then make sure the top head is slightly tighter than the bottom head.

    if the damper does not help enough, you can put a strip of weatherstripping along the bottom rim-that usually kills over-ring and gives you a nice dry sound


  2. Check to make sure the heads are tight on both sides, all around. Then make sure the snare itself is right. You can release the snare part and make sure the drum sounds already on its own. That will tell you if it's the snare part itself or the rest of the drum.

    You can't tell more specifically where it's coming from? Are there any signs of damage?
