Ping and Bubba Watson help raise $250,000 for Phoenix Children’s Hospital
Bubba Watson and the golf equipment company PING have worked side by side to raise $250,000 to donate it to Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
The American professional golfer won the hearts of his fans when he displayed one of the best performances of his career to clinch the 2012 Masters tournament.
The golf equipment Company, PING came up with the idea of a campaign to raise money for charity. Just as Watson won the Masters Championship, PING approached the tall American to start the fundraiser “Bubba Long in Pink. Driven by PING”.
5,000 limited edition pink PING drivers were made – an idea sparked by Watson’s driver. PING Officials said that $50 out of the price of each driver will be donated to charity.
Watson and the CEO of PING, John Solheim gave a check of $250,000 to the Phoenix Children’s Hospital on Thursday.
With the help of the charity money, the hospital will be able to construct a new laboratory meant to serve pediatric patients with neuromuscular illness and defects.
While talking about the fundraiser, Watson said, “When we first decided to start the 'Bubba Long in Pink Driven by PING' project, I don't think any of us thought we would be contributing to such a well-deserved orthopedic gait lab”.
He continued, “It's great to see the project through and the positive impact the contribution will have on the community”.
There are many golfers on the tour who make it a point to donate or raise funds in order to assist the needy.
Watson played a major role in promoting the brand. At the same time, he helped in raising a huge amount of money to make sure the construction of the laboratory starts and serves the people in the best possible manner.
There are numerous sports personalities who indulge in such thought provoking activities.
Watson is a highly talented golfer who plays on the Professional Golf Association Tour, his determination and resilience on the fairways are appreciated by his counterparts.
He has won six professional titles in his career and has a decent record in the major championships as well.
Other than the Open Championship, the American has made it into the top five of every other major tournament.
