  1. There  should be 1/2" difference in length. Although most companies have tolerances that they allow. Most have a tolerance of 1/16" to 1/8". If one club is on the high end and the other is on the low end you could end up with a 1/4" difference in length. Also as one of the previous responses stated, One of the clubs could have been rebuilt. If it it was built to standard and the originals are not of standard length then that could be your discrepancy.

  2. Basically there should be 1/2" difference in all clubs, except wedges , woods, and putters.

  3. dusti,

Not from Ping. Most all other club mfgs have 1/2" between these 2 clubs but, Ping does not. I have regripped as well as reshafted many Ping irons. And Ping stops their 1/2" digression at the 8 iron. They consider the 9 iron a wedge.

    Hope this helps,

    J

  4. Is the set second hand?  The previous owner might have liked that length of shaft and had it fitted on both clubs. Its also possible he broke a club and the shop re fitted it with the wrong shaft.
