Question:

Ping g10 Beginners clubs?

Hello everyone

I am booked in for a fitting session on Friday 27/06 and was planning on getting fitted up with G10 Irons and driver and placing my order for some. I have since heard that they are not beginners clubs and they are harder to hit than say Callaway Big Bertha.. Can somebody advise if this is correct?

The clubs I use at the moment are very mix and match. I have 3 different makes of Irons, 4 different models. a £15 driver which the paint is starting to chip on. I have only been playing for 6 or so months and looking back I have improved greatly (even getting my first hole in one yesterday (pure luck, not skill sadly)).

I havn't yet worked out my handicap.

  1. You are defeating the purpose of getting "fitted" for clubs if you go into the session already knowing what clubs you want to buy.  The only fitting that will be done is the length and lie angle if you already know what brand you want.  But, Pings may or may not be what your golf professional determines what you need.  The G10 is a game improvement club.  If you want Pings, go with the Ping G10 vs the Ping I10 which is for better players.  If you are new to the game, you might want to consider buying a set of used clubs....

  2. The G10 are considered "game improvement" clubs (the Callaway Big Bertha are in the same category).  The Ping I10's are for lower-handicap players, so best to avoid those for now.

In North America, Golf Magazine gave very high marks to the G10 line; they make two drivers- one conventional, one a "draw" (designed to help slicers).

Smart to go with a fitting session; Callaway doesn't offer this, so it's all "one size fits all".

Having gone through the fitting process, wear comfortable clothes since you'll be hitting a fair few shots.

  3. yes those clubs are hard to hit

you must have lots of money

i have been playing for 4 yrs and still have a 300 complete set with a couple addball wedges i picked up used.

i do know that if you are getting fitted clubs and dropping that pretty penny on them you should go with taylormade or nike.

    they are very good clubs.

pings are very pro based clubs.

    good luck wiht your game

  4. Nooooooo they are not beginners clubs. they are for people that have been playing for a while. I have hit them myself and they are beyond hard to hit.(i have been playing for a year and have a 10 handicap)
