Because its the 3rd hardest thing to play in this world(after golf and tennis), that tiny little ball can fly as quick as 20 miles per hour, and you have to be able to do push ups with the knuckle of your indexfinger and thumb to swing the bat without losing it in contest( top lvl of course).

The silliest sport for me is dressage, it doesn't require much apart from a dancing horse.

As a woman who has played table tennis many times, it is a skill and requires much concentration, agility and expertise. It isn't as active as tennis, but is pretty similar only on a smaller scale. You DO break a sweat if done right.

The silliest or one I don't like to watch is pushing a broom on the floor while advancing a stone. Now that's boring to me. Is shooting a gun or hitting a target with an arrow any different?  They also require concentration and skill and you don't move much.

hopscotch and rope skipping, you have to think about how would they do things like finals for that and such

2008 Olympic Games table tennis project selection process

According to the Olympic Games table tennis competition contest a point of order, the Chinese table tennis team will have three of the men and women athletes to participate in Olympic Games, participating for the project male and female team and men's and women's singles competition. On behalf of the Chinese national table tennis team will participate in the Olympic Games, the athletes will be the adoption of the following procedures.

First, determine the scope of athletes participating in Olympic Games main

Bremen through 2006, 2007 and 2008 Zagreb World Table Tennis Championship in Guangzhou and various domestic and international competition in the training and tests, the combination of peacetime training performance of the Chinese table tennis team set to participate in the selection of Olympic athletes main areas.

Second, through the world rankings qualify

According to the relevant provisions of国际乒联, from May 1, 2007 to April 30, 2008 for the Olympic qualification points, we will send more than the team and other members of the national team to participate in international职业巡回赛for integration to the world rankings Access to participate in the final stage of the qualification competition.

Third, access to qualified through the Asian qualifiers

We strive to be world number two places on the basis of entries, and then through the Asian region was the first three pre-selection team.

Fourth, determine the criteria players

To the world rankings for the fundamental basis for the team in the Chinese athletes, the adoption of the following procedures for screening participants:

Who cares?

If it's something competitive, that you get better at with practice, and people from different countries play it, then why the h**l shouldn't it be there?

Having ping pong / beach volleyball / trampolining etc included doesn't make the 100 metres any less exciting. It doesn't devalue Michael Phelps' gold medals. So who cares?

only reason its a sport is the chinese are good at it.to me its a game you play when your drinking a beer in the garage.why not have a pool olympics.pool as in pool with the cues,not swimming pool.

The stupidest Olympic sport I can think of is the synchronized

swimming. Talk about hokey!

It is an Olympic sport, it's simple in so far as one person or team has to beat another by scoring more points than the opposition, in my opinion it's more of a sport than the much maligned synchronised swimming or any event that relies on judges awarding points as it's so open to abuse,

Do you mean should it be? You obviously know that it is.   I reckon so as there is a lot of skill needed to play properly. Ping pong is a totally different ball game!!!!!!!!!!
