Ping pong rule question...?

Hello, my question is regarding table tennis. Let's say for example that I'm playing my opponent in a normal game, and I hit his shot back to him before it touches the court on my side. Is this legal? Also, what if I hit him with a shot and it bounces off him onto his side of the court?

first question is 100% legal no doubt

second one im pretty sure if its over the plane of the table and its got a chacne of landing on that side then its a point for you

The first example is not legal.

2.7 A GOOD RETURN

2.7.1 The ball, having been served or returned, shall be struck so that it passes over or around the net assembly and touches the opponent's court, either directly or after touching the net assembly

2.10            A POINT

2.10.1         Unless the rally is a let, a player shall score a point

2.10.1.5            if his opponent obstructs the ball;

You hitting the ball before it has bounced on the court is legal in Tennis, but not in Table Tennis.  You must wait for the ball to bounce.

The second example may or may not be legal.  If you have hit your opponent with the ball while he is beyond his endline, it is his point, if he is in front of the endline, it is your point.

2.10.1.4            if the ball passes beyond his end line without touching his court, after being struck by his opponent;

2.10.1.5            if his opponent obstructs the ball;

At the moment the ball passed over the endline, it became your opponents point.  If he contacted it before it crossed the endline, it was your point.

and the second one is illegal.. the ball must hit his paddle, not him.
