Ping’s limited-edition all-pink G20 is out for sale – Golf News
Ping Golf, a golf equipment company, has announced to sell 5,000 units of the limited-edition all-pink G20 drivers to raise the funds for the "Bubba & Friends Drive to a Million" initiative.
According to the company sources, five per cent of the proceeds of the sale will be donated to the company under "Bubba Long in Pink. Driven by Ping" campaign.
Bubba Watson has been using the specific driver since his appearance in the Farmers Insurance Open early in the season.
Since then, the company has donated $61,600 that include $10,000 direct donation as well as $300 for every drive that Watson will make more than 300 yards.
Bubba & Friends Drive to a Million has an aim of collecting $1 million, which will be donated to the charities in Phoenix.
The announcement of the sale of the driver in the market came after Watson’s victory in the Masters Tournament on Sunday, April 8, 2012.
Watson entered the sudden death playoffs following his tie with Louis Oosthuizen at 10-under par on top of the leaderboard.
Watson outshined his opponent on the second extra hole to wear the green jacket for the first time in his career.
According to Watson, his driver played a major role in his victory at the Augusta National as he was able to drive the ball long enough to go closer to the pins.
"Bubba is already approaching the target of 300 drives of 300 yards or longer, and we wanted a way to provide ongoing support for his generous cause," said John A. Solheim, Ping Golf's Chairman and CEO, in a media release.
"Even prior to his win at the Masters, golfers were requesting pink G20s. Through word of mouth, social media, and phone calls, the interest was extremely high. We want to satisfy that demand while bringing even more visibility to Bubba's goal of raising
$1 million," he added.
In March, the G20 driver was rated as one of the best game improving equipment after a review of different golf equipments were tested by the GOLF Magazine's experts.
Therefore, the sale of G20 is expected to be a big hit among the players and the fans.
