Pink eye? A corneal ulcer? What do you think this could be?

Ever since about 3 days ago, my eye has been pretty irritated. But today it's worse than it's ever been. It's literally bloodshot, and it hurts if I put pressure on it (on the top of the eye where my eyelid is). And it's only 1 eye. It doesn't hurt if I put pressure on my eyelid on my other eye! I wrapped an ice cube in a napkin and pressed it against my eye, which helped a LOT. And then I put saline in my eye that is supposed to remove bacteria and protein. And that basically cleared all the redness up in my eye, but it still hurts, but just barely. Oh yeah, and I almost forgot to tell you how this happened! I have contacts, and I've had them for about... I think a year. Well stupid stupid stupid me, I usually sleep in them on a regular basis. I know, horrible. I just always fall asleep on the couch while watching TV, and then... yeah. And I usually change them about every 3 or 4 days... and they're DAILY DISPOSABLES. I'm such an idiot and I've definitely learned my lesson, but now this happened. I asked my mom to schedule an eye appointment with our optical doctor, and I think she's going to. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of it, but I tried to explain it as best as I could. So do you know what this might be? Have you ever gone through something like this?

Please, keep it calm on the thumbs down and please keep it calm on the rude comments. Thank you SO much. =]

  1. Aww ERIN! I hope your eye feels better! Im not sure what it is because im not a doctor, but it sounds like some type of eye inffection. Maybe pink eye... im not sure! Try looking on google!

  2. It does sound like an ulcer.  ask your mom if she can see any white spots on the cornea.  but an appointment asap with an ophthalmologist is crucial.  the longer you postpone this the more damage it will cause

  3. OMG! i know what exactly you have! you have what i had not too long ago. when you sleep and wear lenses, pressure builds up in your eyes, and too much pressure will cause the eye to split. you basicly have a small scratch on your eye. my eye doctor prescribed Vigamox 3 times a day and no lenses for a week just to be safe. you should definately see your eye doctor just to be safe though...since there is a possibility that it could get infected.

  4. You definitely need to see your eye doctor.  It could be either pink eye or an ulcer.  There is also something called CLARE, or contact lens induced acute red eye. Sleeping in contacts makes the eye more susceptible to inflammation/infection.

  5. Not pink eye. If it was pink eye it would itch like crazy. I think your contacts bothered your eyes real bad. Its happened to me before. I wake up with my contacts in and it looks like i just smoke about a pound of weed.

  6. This is most likely not pink eye.  Pink eye doesn't hurt and it's usually both eyes.  Get your butt into an eye doctor and get this thing treated. Also, listen to your doctor for a change when they tell you how long to wear your contacts.  We don't just make that c**p up.
