  1. Like most other viruses, including the common cold, there is no way to get rid of viral pink eye. You have to let the virus run its course. Nevertheless, you should see a physician no matter what kind of conjunctivitis you think you have, because there is an corneal infection associated with the viral pink eye. Often times a doctor will prescribe you an antibiotic when you get pink eye, just to be on the safe side and to avoid the possibility of a secondary infection brought on by your weakened immune system. With severe cases of viral pink eye, a steroid cream is prescribed to help reduce inflammation.

Getting rid of bacterial pink eye is easiest with an antibiotic, making it one of the easier pink eyes to get rid of. Part of the reason doctor’s prescribe an antibiotic for viral pink eye is because they’d rather save you the money of having to get lab work done, and instead either assume it’s bacterial pink eye or viral pink eye. One can’t be cured but the secondary infection can, while the other can be cured using the same drugs that would cure a secondary infection from the first. Do the math and get yourself to the doctor and have them fill out a prescription for a mild antibiotic.

Allergic pink eye is the the second easiest pink eye to get rid of, usually with an antihistamine or an anti-inflamatory drug. Allergic conjunctivitis is caused by exposure to allergens like pet dander, pollen, dust and even dust mites can irritate the membranes around your eyes. The best way to get rid of allergic pink eye is to use an antihistamine coupled with an NSAID like Ibuprofen during the months when you feel you most often suffer from conjunctivitis. Of course, avoiding exposure to something like cats will help too, and if you’re worried about secondary infections, get your doctor to prescribe an antibiotic.

  2. Try Similasan Pink Eye Relief eye drops.  They're OTC, homeopathic, and you can use them as many times as you need. They should be in the eye drops section at any drug store, grocery store, or Wal-Mart.  I hope that helped!

  3. A home remedy worked for me.

Warm some milk..wet a washcloth with the warm milk

Place washcloth over infected eye. When washcloth cools put more warm milk on and do it again.

Make sure some of the milk gets into the eye. Do this a few times a day.

In about 2 days my eye started to clear up.
