My sister told me about this gland that hamsters secrete, could it be that?

  1. I don't know about the gland, but a pink stain could be blood from a urinary infection, his/her mouth bleeding, an abscess or other wound, or even pregnancy.

Because hamsters don't usually urinate or defecate in their bedding, I'm leaning more toward an injury.  Hopefully you keep your hamster alone.  Hamsters are solitary animals, and if you keep more than one in a care -- regardless of gender, they will fight, eventually one will likely kill the other.  If you have two in one care, then it's almost certainly blood from an injury or more likely, an abscessed injury.

Other sources of injury might be a wheel, wood splinters in shavings, chewed metal or plastic parts on water bottle holders, care bars, metal lids, etc.

If your hamster is alone in its cage, change its bedding and clean the cage.  Check it carefully for injury, pat its rear end with a bit of white toilet paper to see if it's stained with blood, also try patting at its mouth for bloody saliva.  Check it's mouth to see if something is lodged in its pouch.  If you can't find an injury or any more blood, watch it carefully to be sure it's eating, drinking, urinating, and otherwise acting normally.  If it acts okay and the stain doesn't return, you're probably okay.
