  1. A pink slime monster waiting to hatch out and eat the neighborhood.  Seriously, sounds like a fungus that likes your filter pump. I'd suggest having a partner standing by to turn off the pump, and then put some chlorine in the intake-suck it in, turn off the pump and let it set overnite.  Or if your pump has a cleanout, put it in there, though that's hard to do with the water pressure.

  2. It's a bacterial colony.

  3. It is pink algae.

Take a sample of pool water to a pro to get tested.

They will print out detailed instructions for remedy.

  4. My Husband said it is algae. There are various types of algae. Go by a pool place and take a sample they can test it. Scrape some off with a popsicle stick and place in a ziplock bag. They have different algae killers for that...

  5. Sounds interesting.  I would clean out the pump volute with a brush and hose to get as much out as you can then shock your pool.  Putting chlorine directly in your pump, a strong corrosive, is not a good idea.  But it would kill the pink stuff and your pump to.  A two fer!

    You're welcome!!

  6. Bubble gum?
