  1. That means your media is offline.

Simply put, when you are editing your footage in Pinnacle, or any editor, the data is never really there. No, it is stored somewhere in Timbuktu on the conputer's hard drive, and the video editor constantly references those files AT THAT LOCATION to get you the image preview you see in the editor.

Now if you move the "source" footage, or delete it, the editor gets all confused. Remember, Pinnacle always needs to refer to the original footage---it's not an independant video file, not yet at least.

So if you just moved the files to a different location on the hard drive that should be an easy fix. Just right click on the video clips in the browser window (that's the window on the left, that displays each clip name, etc) in Pinnacle. So Right Click >> Reconnect Media then locate those files on the hard drive. Once you reconnect one, the computer should sync up the rest for you..There. No need to re-edit.

If you deleted the files, then you'll have to re-capture the whole thing, and then reconnect. Most likely, you won't have to re-edit.

If you moved the files to a different computer to edit there, then remember to always move the source along with it.

Naturally, it'll work the same with images.

So when is it safe to delete that unedited, space-consumer source c**p? Well, when you are finished editing, and have the video completely finished and exported as an independent video file (.avi, or what have you). Just make sure you never want to re-edit that again.

Hope that helps.....And just ignore this if it's an entirely different problem....could be unrendered, I guess. In that case just go to File>>Render. It's more likely the offline issue.

Anyways, good luck, and if you are still having problems, be sure to say so :)
