Piotr Wilczewski ready to defend European title against James DeGale – Boxing news
The current European Boxing Union’s champion Piotr Wilczewski is ready to take on the former World Boxing Association’s International super middleweight title holder James DeGale on September 17, 2011.
The Polish pugilist, Wilczewski, who is set to defend his European Boxing Union’s title against the Chunky, James DeGale with a still-to-be-decided venue, told the media he is not going to let his title go away easily.
The 32-year-old Wilczewski, who has won 29 of his 30 professional fights including 10 by the way of a knockout, admitted in front of the media that he knows his opponent is very skilled. He said he is not going to take anything away from him but on the same
note, he remarked it will be an explosive fight as he will try his best to defend his title.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “DeGale is a good strong fighter and he proved his class winning the Olympic gold medal. He will be in a real fight against me. I will not let my title go without a fight and he'd better be prepared to go to war
with me.”
The Wilk, Wilczewski, in the end also claimed that he will have more fans in the arena cheering up for him than his opponent, as he reckons there are more Polish fans in England than in Poland.
Wilczewski claimed, “I'm not worried by coming to England to face him. I guarantee that there will be more fans cheering for me in the arena on the night than him because there are more Polish people in England than back in Poland!”
James DeGale, who has won 10 of his 11 fights including 8 by the way of a knockout, recently lost his title to George Groves on May 21, 2011 through a close points decision but he is very delighted upon getting a European title shot back after his defeat.
Therefore, it is fair to say he is also going to give his best shot. However let’s see if Wilczewski can really see off the desperate DeGale on the fight night.
