The Spanish centre-back reflected how their opponents, Cordoba, seemed to be an easy side but made things difficult for Barcelona and the Catalans could only pick up a 0-2 win in the first leg.
Barcelona faced the Segunda Division side, Cordoba, in the Copa del Rey, and while many thought that it will be an easy game for the Spanish giants, Cordoba made things difficult for them.
The Spanish centre-back, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Pique, believes that it was quite hard for his side to defend against Cordoba, who kept trying their luck on goal in order to make the best out of the game.
However, with the brilliance of Lionel Messi, Barcelona were able to win the game 0-2 away from home, which definitely does not mean that the tie is absolutely over.
Pique stated that they already knew how Cordoba are going to be tricky opponents while being away from home and explained how their fans really help them in their home stadium.
“We suffered a lot in the first few minutes, but we did well in defence.”
“We knew they would be a very tricky opponent at home since their fans have been fantastic and that has helped them a lot.”
Pique also commented on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296’s brace, which has taken his goal-scoring tally for this year to 88, something which no other player has managed to achieve in the history of football.
“Messi’s goals? Game by game he shows that he is still the best. He has the same desire to win and score. But, at 0-2 the tie is not yet over.”
When the Spaniard was asked about his own condition and how he feels on the pitch, he stated that he is improving and feels better when he plays on the pitch. Moreover, he also stated that he would like to keep playing in the same manner in the future as
well.
“My physical condition? I feel good on the field. I can always improve, I will try to keep going in this way.”
The 0-2 away win against Cordoba definitely does give http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 an edge over their opponents and the game at the Nou Camp would guarantee La Blaugrana’s selection in the last eight, as a win and a draw would take them through to the next round.
