Gerard Pique and Carles Puyol are considered to be the best of friends in La Blaugrana and after the injury, the Spanish centre-back spoke about how Puyol dislocated his elbow and it shouldn’t have happened.
Barcelona most recently lost one of their most important players, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carles-Puyol-c8331.
The Spanish centre-back dislocated his elbow during the game against Benfica in the UEFA Champions League.
While La Blaugrana lost Gerard Pique during the Champions League game against Spartak Moscow, they also had to see Carles Puyol being stretchered off during the European fixture against Benfica.
Even though http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 won both these fixtures, they did not win them without paying a price in the shape of both their first-choice centre-backs.
Last season, during the end stages of the season, the Catalan giants saw Carles Puyol getting injured.
The Spanish defender was seen limping during the last La Liga game played by the Catalan giants and that is the reason why he could not take part in Barcelona’s Copa del Rey triumph against Athletic Bilbao and the Spanish team’s successful campaign of the Euro 2012.
However, after going through a surgery, Barcelona saw Carles Puyol making a comeback into the first-team and it was definitely a huge boost of Tito Vilanova who was already sweating because of less defenders.
Despite the inclusion of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Pique.
While speaking about Carles Puyol, Gerard Pique said that the Catalan defender gives a lot to the team and that is the reason why he is the best.
The Spanish defender said:
“I could go mad at him because he does these kind of things. He never learns. He is not a 24-year-old now and in the 80th minute, when we were leading 2-0, he goes and jumps in that way. But that’s Puyol.”
“If he had not done that then it wouldn’t have been Puyol. That’s why he will go down in history as one of the greatest central defenders there has ever been.”
Barcelona would currently be enjoying the international break as they are expecting most of their first-team players to return after international duty.
