Question:

Pirate dialogue. What sorts of insults might old fashioned pirates shout at each other while swashbuckling?

and swordfighting? I know this isn't exactly a boat question but I'm guessing some of you guys know all about it.

  2. Unless for lead characters, none at all. Actors who speak cost more than extras.

    Furthermore, the dialog usually will pertain to the story. So, if character A knows something about character B, then the talk during the fight will be taunting, ridiculing, or even revealing (as in showing some power over the other because of the secrets he knows).

    So, unless it progresses the story, any talk during the fight would likely be the grunts and groans of exertion and pain of people in combat.

    When the weather was bad enough the crew sometimes had to go potty inside the boat.

    Human waste would collect in the bilge.
