Piri Wango to give the Betfred “The Bonus King” Stakes (Heritage Handicap) a shot with the champion rider, Frankie Dettori
The 9 to 1 entry for the Class 2 Betfred “The Bonus King” Stakes (Heritage Handicap), the three-year-old chestnut gelding has maintained a neat balance of wins and losses through the four career outings. The fifth chance to excel will be over six furlong on Friday, 13th July at Newmarket. In order to claim the £62,250 prize money, the three-year-old will have take down nineteen other three-year-old contenders.
Choisir’s chestnut gelding started the racing career by a storming impressive success in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund 2YO Maiden on 4th November, 2011 at Dundalk over six furlongs.
With jockey, K. Latham, the Zoldan foaled was ninth with just three more furlongs to go. He notched up that position to sixth when there remained the final furlong to cover. The Irish chestnut gelding refused to fall victim to the challenges inside the final furlong and won by the margin of 1 ¾ lengths.
He won after speeding from the tenth stall and set, Pyrenean Music, second who had taken off from the twelfth gate.
Catching up with the third position behind the winner was, Fast Finian.
Retaining the identical form in the next race, the G. M. Lyons trained intimidated the line-up of eight in the mailto:Bookings@Dundalkstadium.com 3YO Handicap on 11th April, 2012 at Dundalk over a mile.
This time he was paired up with jockey, Johnny Murtagh. Piri Wango did not wait for long to become prominent and as was his style, the three-year-old did not let the pressure during the final stages of the race get to him, and got to lead near home.
He defeated the favourite entry, Caprella, by a head’s margin. Reserving the third slot was, Thomasgainsborough.
Unfortunately, the race marks to be the last time that the David Spratt won as the two races that followed were failures. He finished fourth with Johnny Murtagh, and then ended fifth with Frankie Dettori riding.
He will take his chances with Frankie Dettori once again as the duo will break from the fifth gate.
The Michael Kinane bred will need to look out for the 4 to 1 shot, Mince.
