Pirlo confessed that he almost joined Chelsea in light of the strong player-coach relation he had with former AC Milan coach, Carlo Ancelotti
Chelsea were negotiating with AC Milan for a possible switch over for Pirlo who were his employers at the time. The deal obviously didn’t see the light of day since Milan didn’t want to lose their top man.
Pirlo had this to say while talking to the press "I had already started negotiating with the people at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 but then finally Milan didn’t let me go. That’s why I stayed."
This confirms that he was seriously considering the move to Chelsea and was dismayed that the deal did not go through.
"Certainly it would have been a different experience that I’d have liked, especially when I was 30 years old. So why not? But unfortunately it didn’t happen," Pirlo genuinely considers this a missed chance.
Pirlo is in fine form and has the recent past to vouch for this claim. His success with the Bianconeri in the last title run plus his undeniable star quality at the Euro 2012 playing for the national side was spectacular.
The Italian admits that it will be sometime before he hangs up his football boots. He even considers the English Premier League is still an open option.
When asked about a possible future at the English Premier League, he said "I like English football a lot. There are plenty of very good teams. They are very aggressive so it’s always entertaining to watch.”
Clearly Juventus does not want Pirlo going anywhere in the near future but Pirlo is on the lookout for a solid offer. The only thing holding Pirlo back currently is his contract with Juventus.
Pirlo claims that it would not be hard for him to adjust within an English club because of his vast experience playing with all sorts of multinational players.
"It wouldn’t be a problem for me fitting into that particular style because I’ve played with different players with different characteristics throughout my career," the midfielder definitely looks all set to play for an English
club if the right opportunity presents itself.
