Pirlo proud of his team’s performance and all-praise for Claudio Marchisio for his contribution
Juventus and Italy midfielder, Andrea Pirlo, is proud of his team’s performance against Serbia and hails his club teammate, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Claudio-Marchisio-c9312.
Cesare Prandelli’s men played a 1-1 draw against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 scored very early in the game after Claudio Marchisio finished delightfully from close range in the 2nd
minute. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Branislav-Ivanovic-c7994 scored in the 26th minute to put the hosts on level terms.
Pirlo is impressed with his team’s performances in difficult conditions and believes that they did extremely well to hang onto a point. The former A.C Milan midfielder believes that the early lead helped them a lot as the hosts
made a great comeback after that.
However, the midfielder insists that his team should have sealed the game in the first half as they created host of opportunities in the early minutes.
Pirlo said, “We had to put in a great performance in a difficult arena against a side that had to win at all costs, so we’re proud to have imposed our football on the match. Serbia thought they’d get off to a strong start, but
so did we and scored in the opening minute"
"When the deadlock is broken so early, it always becomes difficult for the opposition. We could’ve put the win under lock and key in the first half, but the team played good football and it’s a step forward ahead of Euro 2012.”
The 32-year-old is happy for his Juve teammate, Marchisio, who scored his first international goal for the country. Pirlo believes that the goal has come at a right time for him, as he is enjoying a great time of late. Marchisio
scored a brace against A.C Milan in a recent encounter against them.
“He wanted this first goal and it came right at the start of the game, so he couldn’t have asked for better.”
Italy will play their last qualifier against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Northern-Ireland-c2972 on Tuesday, October 11th, 2011 at the Pescara.
