Pirouette help???????

how does the foot movement go... like i know how to do the hands the position and everything and i know how to start off my turn. but i can only do one turn, and i cannot do it barefoot (because i dont spin) so i need to know how to spin and how to do the second turn (so a pirouette with two turns) .. i would like to know what the foot (ball of your foot, heel, etc) does when getting the momentum for the second or third turn..

  1. a double pirouette is exactly the same as a pirouette except with 2 turns wen in fourth or prep plie more spot twice keep your arms in first and legg in passe those things dont change.

    spot hard. plie and BALANCE. tuck yoru butt under and hold your stomach tight!


  2.    1. Find an open space with a relatively non-slick floor. Polished wood is too slippery; a vinyl or linoleum floor is best.

       2. Make sure that if you fall, you won't hurt the pets or fall on anything sharp.

       3. Arrange your feet one in front of the other with the toes pointing away from the other leg, not towards, then move them about 1.5 feet apart. Then bend the knees about a third of the way (fourth position).

       4. Hold the arm on the same side as the leg that is behind you in front of your body with a half-circular curve in it, the fingertips should be on line with your sternum.

       5. Hold the other arm out to the side, palm forward and slightly below the shoulder.

       6. Begin by pushing down with the legs to straighten them, simultaneously opening curved arm to a straight position and turning torso in same direction.

       7. Pick up back leg, bend it and place it to touch the front leg (standing leg), toes just above the knee (or close). Ninety percent of your weight should rest on your front leg. Rise up on the metatarsals of the front leg and straighten the knee. Do not turn while rising.

       8. Close arms into a "pizza pie" position in front of you, fingertips 1-inch apart and hold there.

       9. Start turning.

      10. Look at a spot on the wall level with your eyes and as you rotate, attempt to keep it in sight at all times, you'll have to whip your head around to find it again with each rotation.

      11. After 2 or 3 rotations, lower foot that is on the knee back to the floor behind you, open arms out to the sides and halt your rotation.

      12. Smile. Don't give up when it doesn't work. Practice it again and again; it can be discouraging at first to find that you are not succeeding but all dancers practice pirouettes and fall or stumble often as well, even during a performance.

    Tips

        * For the first few tries, only attempt a single pirouette to familiarize your body with the feeling and motion. It takes time to work up to a double, triple, quad etc. You may even want to start with only quarter/half turns. If you try doubles/triples right away you will be disappointed.

        * Before attempting multiple turns, try to balance at the end of a single turn before landing.

        * Modulate force for number of rotations desired. More force generally equals more rotations, but it is also a timing thing. Too much force will send you careening across the room and you will lose control. Equally, too little power and you'll stop dead in your tracks and fall face first. The proper amount of power comes with experience and you'll soon be able to tell whether you have too much power or not enough.

        * Remember, every ballerina has fallen on a pirouette at least once. Practice makes perfect. It doesn't take long to be able to do a pirouette and once you get the hang of it, it feels quite natural.

        * Turns takes a sense of center. Even if you barely lean in any direction, you will fall out of your turn. Crunches/sit ups can help with this.

        * Focus on going UP, not the turn. The turn will come naturally when you learn to go UP.

        * Keep your supporting knee straight and tightened. This will help you support yourself.

        * It's important to tighten your body in order to make it look good and stay up.

        * Do not let your arms get very much lower than shoulder height! If they are too low, it will bring your center of gravity down.

        * Think Up! Up! Up! Imagine someone is pulling you by a string on the top of your head.

        * Make sure you have a strong plie prep but don't stay in your preparation (plie) too long, because then you will lose the momentum from the pirouette.

        * Do point the foot that is in retire hard and think of bringing that retirer higher as you turn. This will also keep your center up and balanced. Make sure foot is still connected to leg.

        * Growth spurts tend to throw off your balance, if you grow and lose some of your pirouette-ing ability don't dismay it will come back along with your sense of balance.

    Warnings

        * Pets, spouses, children, breakable objects, power tools, automobiles, sharp objects and pride all can be wounded in the attempt. Adjust accordingly.



    Things You'll Need

        * Proper clothing: Clothes you are comfortable wearing and can move easily in, whether this be a leotard or your PJs. A dress probably won't work and neither will jeans.

        * Large open area: You'll feel better and ultimately be able to do a better pirouette because you won't have to worry about running into anything.

  3. i think u mean a double pirouette...

    i cant do them either i could before though

    its like a single except you go around twice

    its hard and required for a lot of dances

    i don't know anyone who can barefoot

  4. make sure u keep your foot going strait up

    your heel is what pushes u

    the ball of the foot is what u spin on

    if u r in jazz u r with ur knee in front of u

    if u r in ballet u r with the knee to the side

    to do two u have to be able to balance for along time in the position on demi

    pull up and push harder
