Piscean looks strong for Greene King IPA Handicap
On the basis of his vast experience and decent record over good to firm surfaces, Piscean poses to be the strongest of all the eight runners who are lined-up to compete for the ace title of the Greene King IPA Handicap that will take place at Yarmouth racecourse
on Wednesday, September 19.
The Tom Keddy trained bay and brown gelding has made marks at all the major race venues. Now, he is keen to register a success over here. Both the ground condition and the distance go to his favour. The opposition is slack too. Thus, we must hope that the
seven-year-old veteran horse will be really impressive over 5 furlongs and 43 yards.
Piscean’s profile shows 11 triumphs off 73 starts. Though not being consistent, he has made himself felt on some big occasions. His last victory came on August 24 when he elegantly outplayed a dozen of rivals to lift the ace title of Piper-Heidsieck Handicap
(Betfair Sprint Flat Series Qualifier) at Newmarket.
Showboating showed enough resistance against him, but he beat the Irish horse by the margin of 2½ lengths. That was a decent performance on the good to firm ground.
Like always, the American gelding could not be able to retain his momentum and tumbled badly in the subsequent outing at Sandown.
Having spent the last two weeks in school, Piscean looks to be well-prepared to cope with today’s challenge. Ryan Clark will be on his back as this rider knows the runner’s temperament well.
Considering the horse’s inconsistency, some punters are reluctant to stake their money on him, but they have no other option as well. Keddy hopes that his pupil will not break the trust of those who give him vote of confidence.
Thus, Piscean carries the burden of so many expectations. The only opponent who can prove to be a threat for him is Waseem Faris. The legendary trainer Mick Channon’s bay gelding delivered some decent performances during the last two months.
The Irish horse last won on July 27. That was the Yorkshire.com Back Le Bid Stakes (Handicap).
Thus, a fierce clash is imminent in the race. Let us enjoy it.
