Do you mean a Sound Suppresser or Silencer? A 9mm Luger has velocity too high for that, since there is a sonic boom. The best pistols for silencers or suppressers are guns made with them built in, e.g. the British Welrod "Mark I" and "Mark II". A single shot is next best, e.g. a Thompson Center "Contender". Revolvers have a gap between cylinder and barrel that allows some gas and noise to escape. The breech of a semi-auto opens and lets out some noise. The best handguns of these types are early ones. The Russian Moison-Nagant cylinder encloses the barrel when the hammer is pulled back. Some cavalry semi-autos of 1898-1912 didn't eject empty cases, so noise didn't escape from their breeches.
