Pistons for FDL16 or 645E3 Engines? Does anybody know a source for used pistons? Want to buy one. How much?

Looking for piston for decorative item. Wondering what one would cost me.

  1. A challenging question, this.  It would seem to me that the only possibility would be to pay a visit to your nearest railroad heavy maintenance facility.

    I don't know the protocol between the railroads and EMD.  Whether these items are recycled or if there is something similar to a "core exchange" as one might have when replacing an automobile battery.

    Other than that, the only thing I could think of is perhaps contacting EMD directly.

    Just to satisfy my own curiosity, what are you going to do with it?  Decorative, yes, but in what fashion?  Ash tray, nut dish?

    Found # 144 results in Railroad Junk Yards not sure which will have this part you need hope this helps.
