Pit bulls are they good dogs.?

i want a dog, i was thinking about a pit bull. are they good dogs

There are no bad dogs, only bad owners...

They can be very vicious if raised to be... they can be dangerous but only because they are very strong jawed dogs and don't realize their own strength...

I know a few people with pits and they are all great dogs... I know a few people with pits and they are not so much great doggies... they are pretty good but I wouldn't turn my back on them or leave them around my kids... BUT that's because of the owners not because of the dog itself...

Judging on the way you asked your question, I suggest you don't get a Pitbull. You sound like stupid person and stupid people don't raise good Pitbulls. How about a fish instead? They don't require training and such like dogs do.

They are amazing dogs if you know how to raise, train, and handle them. Otherwise, like a lot of other breeds, they can be a nightmare to live with.

before the 3 that i have now, i never owned one before. so, you dont have to be experienced with them to own one. all you gotta know, is they are dogs. they arent any different than any other dog breed.

i started off with 1 pit bull and 1 doberman. we lost our doby to parvo :(

anyways, after the doby died, a few months later we got another pit bull. and a few months after that, we got another pit bull. i love my dogs, and i will probably never own another breed. they are very strong dogs, so, if you are up to playing with them for hours, and playing rough with them (they LOVE that) then go for it.  if this helps your question any, i have a 4 year old son, and my dogs play with him all the time. they have never hurt him in any way. except maybe stepping on him while hes in the floor with them. so, they are wonderful dogs, just as any other breed can be.

I was not much into pit bulls but ended up with a beautiful red-nose, and believe me when I say he is the best pet ever.

I have trained him and is very good around my family and kids as well as with my shitzus.

They are also very smart and very easy to trian.

yes they are, but they are not for every owner. some people do well with certain breeds of dog. depends on the person.

All dogs can be good dogs its bad owners who make bad dogs.  Dogs need trainning alot! even little yorkies lol

my yorkie and jack russel are the well know breed of little yappers and snappers and my dogs dont because of me trainning not to.

anyway if you have time money good trainning love etc then yeah i think a pit bull would make a good pet.

Yes, Pit Bulls are awesome dogs. Right now I have a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and he is 2 1/2 years old and he is the biggest baby you will ever meet. He loves everyone and everything. If a stranger comes up to me while I'm walking him and my other dog (a wolf-hybrid) he just jumps for joy and tries to get their attention. I have raised my dog to not be aggressive towards people and other dogs. For any dog to not be aggressive towards other people or other dogs you need to treat them right. Like they are trying to do a ban on Pit Bulls because of dog fighting and if you take the Pit Bull away, then the people who do the dog fights will just find another breed to use for fighting. But all in all Pit Bulls are a great dog and they are also called 'the nanny dogs' too.

if you can get training and treat it right, yes they are very good dogs.  if you treat it mean and abuse it, it will eat you.

They are great dogs, but only when the owner is knowledgeable about the breed and knows how to properly handle one. A Pitbull is not a good breed for a first time owner.

They are incredible dogs.  Just like a child, you have to raise them well.  Show them love, care, attention, teach them, guide them and they'll turn out just fine.

Right now I have my big brindle boy eating in the kitchen and my lil' baby girl sprawled out on the livingroom floor, twitching and dreaming in her sleep.

It was a long road to get them here but it was so worth it.

EDIT: she's now sleeping on her back - her front paws curled up and her back legs spread wide.  Nothing cuter than a big strong dog being adorable and puppy like.

They are great dogs IF you take so much time to train them, socialize them, and love them. What makes them great is what also can bring them down.

I recommend the breed only to people who are willing to put in a lot of good hard training as well as great socialization. They are a willing dog who will do a lot, if not anything for their owners. If that means attack someone/something... they are capible.

I would look into other possible breeds first to see if there is not anything else that would work for you. The American Kennel Club (AKC.org) is a great site to look into and will give you resources to also look at.
