Pit bulls vs other dogs are they over rated?

i remember seeing a show that two pittbulls went over a fence to attacked a little girl and a Golden Retriever fought them off. don't get wrong pit bulls are tough. i think people over rate them too much. my grandpa had a dalmatian/collie mix that beat a much larger rottweiler in a fight with ease.

I don't think they are over-rated but they are much more recorded incidents of attacks against humans.  I had a Korean Akita and he could fight.  I think it depends on what they are bred to do.  I was told that a pack of these Korean Akitas were used to bring down bears and if there were a pack of those dogs i would believe it

i dont think i get were you coming from if you mean which dogs beat the c**p out of other dog there is many:-pibulls is one staffys can rottys bull mastive bulldogs and usually most large-medium dogs but that dont mean that they should get abad rep take a rotty although all you seam to hear is a rotty atacked did you no that your more likley to get bit by a small dog and then people think just cause staffs were bread for fighting that they are nastey but are one of the most loyalist dogs you can buy but to own one you need to be headstrong and pitbulls are not over rated it not there fault thats all you hear and  people forget about the little ones who can be much nastier i think that the truth of the smaller breeds needss to come out

I feel like they over rated for the bad things they do and not ever recognized for the good things they do. They have a bad rap all around and I think it is so unfair. If the right people would get them and not train them to do the things they do I don't think they would be on the news as much. They just want to please their master and love attention.

I think they are VERY OVER RATED in the Bad way

and very UNDER RATED in the good way .

Pit bulls WERE NOT THE ONLY PIT DOGS THEY HAD FIGHTING.

Do you mean are they over rated for their strength?  Not likely.  They're a very powerful breed.

Does it really truly matter which breed is the "tuffest" or which breed could beat other breeds in a fight?

I don't base my chose of breed off of that, whatsoever.

Choices should be made by your compatibility with the dog. What you're looking for-active, not-so-active, people-oriented, one-person-only-type-dog, working ability, etc. But not how "tuff" or "macho" the dog is, or what other dogs it could beat in a fight. That's rubbish.

And no, I don't think that the Pit Bulls are overrated. They have a bad reputation, how is that being overrated?!
