Pitch an idea for a character/plot line to a tv show that is already on tv?

so i would like to know if anyone knows how to pitch an idea to an already existing show. i know i need an agent, and blah blah, but i was wondering, will they even want to hear any ideas from people who are not already working on the show? and if they do, what do you suggest I do?! =] thank you

They don't want to hear ideas from anyone who isn't a WGA member and represented.  There are legal issues involved with this kind of thing, so they avoid accepting any unsolicited ideas or screenplays.  Also, you don't submit an idea, you submit a treatment or script.  

Your best bet is to contact the WGA and see how to proceed.
