Pitch black

Question

I have a older model monocular night owl which was working fine up until a few months ago. I recently tried to use it but I can't see anything through it now. I changed the batteries and still nothing but darkness. I bought it second hand but it worked fine then. It has not been rough handled nor have I tried to look through it into direct light. Is this a fixable problem or should I justt junk the thing?
