Pitcher Trevor Rosenthal to be St. Louis Cardinals’ central focus in 2013 MLB season – MLB News

St. Louis Cardinals' general manager John Mozeliak has said that the dynamism exhibited by Trevor Rosenthal has booked a place for him in the roster. Mozeliak was commenting on the Cards’ potential move in 2013 as far as the emerging pitcher is concerned.
"Clearly, when you look at the success that he's had, you know you have a dynamic arm," Mozeliak said. "Whether it's in the rotation or out of the bullpen, we just know he's going to be in St. Louis.”
Earlier, rumour had it that the pitcher might begin the next season starting in Triple-A. However, the rookie pitcher’s ascent has earned him resounding recognition, keeping him prominent enough among the young pitchers the Cards have recently included in both the rotation and bullpen.
What set Rosenthal apart this past season was the consistency he demonstrated. Not that he was a highly-touted pitcher the Cardinals were promoting to the Major League. In fact, he began the season rather slowly, making quick strides to garner attention.
In the regular season, just when the Cardinals needed it most, he came with seven consecutive scoreless appearances. That feat had no rival, entitling the pitcher to the Cards’ roster for the post-season encounters.
He had seven appearances in post-season games, wherein he allowed only two hits in his 8.2 innings. That is where he remained unbeatable among the pitchers given the almost lacklustre performance of the Cards’ rotation and bullpen.
That indeed was a quick rise.
"It's definitely been a quick ride, going from winning a championship in low-A last year to trying to get another one here the following year at the top level," Rosenthal had said during the NLCS. "I haven't had too much time to go back and reflect on it all yet. Hopefully around Christmastime or something I'll be able to pinch myself and wake up and realize what happened."
Come the 2013 MLB season, Rosenthal will have an inarguably central role either in the rotation or bullpen. With the likes of Chris Carpenter and Adam Wainwright gracing the Cards’ rotation, Rosenthal will be a prized addition.
