Pittsburgh Penguins Captain Sidney Crosby Stalls Decision to Go Abroad -NHL Lockout Update
The Pittsburgh Penguins and fans were expecting an announcement by one of the National Hockey League’s (NHL) leading stars, Sidney Crosby, about signing with a hockey team abroad keeping in view how negotiations have progressed, but according to latest reports,
the superstar forward has stalled the move.
Looking into the details, it seems like Crosby has been limited due to the number of complexities that face his moving abroad including an extremely high amount of health insurance due to his status of being one of the top ranked NHLers in the world along
with previous health worries.
Concussions sidelined Sidney Crosby for a majority of the past two hockey seasons and after finally getting back to full health following a lengthy rehabilitation process, the work stoppage kept him out of playing at his top capacity level.
"I'll probably just wait and see what's going on (with the NHL lockout)," Crosby said, according to the post-gazette.com. "We should have a pretty good idea in early January of what's going to happen. Hopefully, it's not a decision I have to make."
For now, there is nothing significant going on in the league which could be termed to be bringing the lockout closer to an end. Over three months have now gone by since the work stoppage officially came into play with the previous collective bargaining agreement
ending on September 15, 2012.
Crosby is a 25-year-old native of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada, and is reported to be gearing up to be returning to his home up North. The Penguins captain and centre position player was picked up first overall by Pittsburgh back in the 2005 NHL Entry
Draft and has been a part of the club ever since, along with getting them to two consecutive Stanley Cup Finals and a championship win in the second attempt.
In a total of 434 games played up until now, Sidney Crosby boasts an amazing record of 609 points, of which 223 are goals and 386 assists along with 401 penalty minutes.
Crosby was also signed on to a mega 12-year, $104.4 million deal during this year’s offseason.
