Pittsburgh Penguins Captain Sidney Crosby on the way back to recovery –NHL offseason Update
Pittsburgh Penguins' general manager, Ray Shero, made an announcement on Friday that made a lot of people who tune into the hockey world fill with excitement. It is official that Pittsburgh's captain, Sidney Crosby, is back on the ice and skating, which
is for the first time since late April.
Ray Shero added that it might be earlier than expected that Sidney Crosby will be making a fully fledged return. It might be even early as mid-September, but is expected to be ready before the regular season begins on October 6.
"It's part of his progression, to be ready for training camp", Shero said talking to the media. "That is our expectation; he will be ready for training camp.  He's been working out hard off the ice, and getting back on the ice is part of it as well".
Crosby started his normal routine workouts in April, which were a first since he acquired a season ending concussion after hard back-to-back hits in two games against Washington Capitals and Tampa Bay Lightning in early January.
Hopefully according to people close to him, including his agent, Pat Brisson, have said that Crosby, one of the top scorers in the National Hockey League (NHL), will make a fill recover, which is now just a matter of time.
“Everything has gone well”, Shero said during the Penguins’ player development camp here at Consol Energy Center on Friday. “There are no red flags”.
Evgeni Malkin, another top Pittsburgh player who went out during the regular season due to injury is also reported to be near in making a full recovery. He is also expected to play before the new season begins with Penguins during the development camp.
Crosby, a first overall pick of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by Pittsburgh, will be entering his seventh consecutive season with Penguins.
Last season was cut short, which only allowed him to play only 41 games, but still managed to score an impressive 66 points (32 goals, 34 assists).
His best season was in 2006-2007 where is scored a baffling 120 points (36 goals, 84 assists) and has continued to be a dominating force on the ice ever since.
Pittsburgh already being a top playing team will certainly benefit greatly from Crosby’s addition next season. There is no telling what a team without their captain which still reached the playoffs, could do with him on the line-up.
