Pittsburgh Penguins Sidney Crosby's Frustrations Grow with Lockout -NHL Update
The National Hockey League (NHL) lockout may not be ending anytime soon with the way things are going, but it seems like Pittsburgh Penguins superstar forward and captain, Sidney Crosby, is on the verge of calling it a day and finally heading out to Europe.
Crosby is part of a small batch of players who stuck around during the negotiation process between the league and Players’ Association, but looks like his frustration grows by day as both stakeholders fail to make any progress on the issues that really count.
Having missed a number of games over the past two seasons due to a severe concussion, missing out on this season as well due to a lockout is something that has him on the edge.
“I really want to be optimistic,” Crosby said following Monday’s workout at Southpointe, according to triblive.com. “It’s not easy right now. It’s a roller coaster. One day you think there are great talks, then the next day they meet for five minutes and
it’s done.”
Denying the report that executive director of the NHLPA, Donald Fehr, had been hiding information from the stakeholders, Crosby termed it to be something that the league is just using to delay the negotiations and worsen things even further.
“That’s just tactics on their part,” Crosby added. “We’re pretty informed. If (Fehr) didn’t want to (give us all the information), there’s 15 or 20 other guys who would have told us if that’s what he wanted to do.” “If the league has anything to say,” Crosby
continued, “they should say it in a meeting, not (to) a reporter or a journalist. Say it in a meeting. All the other stuff doesn’t help anything. It’s not good for anyone.”
The 25-year-old was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins as the first overall back in round-one of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and has become one of the greatest players to have ever graced the sport.
In a total of 434 games played, Crosby has accumulated 609 points, of which 223 are goals and 386 assists with 401 minutes in penalty time. It will be interesting to see how Crosby continues working in the upcoming days.
