Pittsburgh Penguins Sidney Crosby Excited to make Comeback -NHL Update
The lockout has been tough on everyone, especially the players who were not ready to face months of no primetime hockey and had been training hard to kick off the 2012-2013 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season.
It was definitely hard to be ready to make a banging comeback after recovering from a concussion which lasted for nearly two seasons, but finally when the time came and everything was called off, nobody was more distressed than Pittsburgh Penguins’ captain
and superstar player, Sidney Crosby.
"I'd be lying if I said the first couple weeks I wasn't evaluating that a bit but through the first few workouts, as long as anything doesn't come up, you don't really think about it," Crosby said, according to ESPN.
"I don't think it was a matter of pressing," he added. "I think I missed a lot of time. And to get to playoff speed after missing that amount of time is pretty tough. Definitely I feel like there is another level to my game but I don't know if I can blame
myself for maybe not getting a few more goals."
Crosby’s offseason training was topped off with a huge 12-year, $104.4 million contract that will be giving him $12 million the first three seasons of it and missing out was painful, even more so due to how hard he had been training to get back into form.
Now, the 25-year-old from Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada, is ready to make a surging comeback and return to his usual form of scoring 100 plus points each season and guaranteeing his team is one of the leading at the end of it.
He went from 109 points in 81 games to 66 in 41 the very next and 37 in 22 during the last due to reoccurring concussion symptoms, hampering his performance at every level. Fortunately with the lockout now out of the way, Crosby is making plans to return
with a lightning rod in his hand and topple the competition to be that player once again that had the opposition eating his dirt.
It will definitely be interesting to follow one of the best in the field.
