Pittsburgh Penguins Star Captain Sidney Crosby to make comeback Monday against New York Islanders
It could not have gotten any worse for the New York Islanders who were to face the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday, a day which is announced to be the comeback date for superstar captain, Sidney Crosby, the team declared to the media on Sunday, November 20,
2011.
Sidney’s comeback has certainly created a new rift in the National Hockey League (NHL) as many pundits had previously expected him to debut midway through the 2011-2012 NHL regular season while some even were of the view that he would either come late or
not at all.
Now those who had their bets on Crosby not being able to comeback anytime soon, will certainly have been disappointed, while the his numerous fans can rejoice that one of the top-notch performers will finally be making a return to the sport of hockey
"When he hops out before that game and comes out the tunnel, the building is going to go crazy," Penguins coach Dan Bylsma said Sunday. "It's going to be something of a challenge for our guys to not go out and be spectators but, when he touches the puck
for the first time, it's going to energize the crowd, and we're going to feed off the excitement in the building."
The 24-year-old is easily one of the best players in the hockey world today. It was back in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft that the Penguins drafted him as the first overall draft pick and being the player that he is, Crosby led Pittsburgh to a Stanley Cup championship
in his third season by potting 31 points (15 goals, 16 assists) in 24 contests.
"He's excited and he's anxious. He's been wanting to play hockey for a long time," Bylsma said.
Going out in January earlier this year during the final moments of the 2010-2011 NHL regular season due to a severe concussion after back-to-back hits in consecutive matchups, Crosby’s ousting certainly had a deep impact on the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Penguins were already without top forward, Evgeni Malkin, and then losing Crosby very much weakened them.
Now having Crosby and Malkin back on the team and ready to go, there will be no telling what the Pittsburgh Penguins will be able to do this time around.
