Pittsburgh Penguins content over Sidney Crosby and Kris Letang fitness level-NHL News
Pittsburgh Penguins’ centre, Sidney Crosby, and defenseman, Kris Letang, are expected to be available for the team for rest of the regular season and playoffs after confirmation of their satisfactory progress in their health and fitness during the last couple
of games.
Both players have missed out quite large number of games due to their respective injuries, which were diagnosed to be concussion-like symptoms.
Crosby has been out of the side for more than 60 games this season. His latest joining of the squad came after missing 41 consecutive games since December 05, 2011.
It was for the second time in the season that the player had suffered the concussion-like symptoms problem.
As earlier, he joined the team in November 2011 for mere eight games before reporting the reoccurrence of the problem. Before that, he had remained on the sidelines for 10 months. So, altogether he has missed 102 games in last two seasons.
According to some reports, he was not hundred per cent in his latest return to the team. However, he himself said to have felt fit since his comeback.
The team officials also confirmed the notable progress in the player’s recovery and said that he had not reported suffering any symptoms again.
It could be due to the fact that the player has remained cautious and has come out on the ice with a completely different game approach. He was noted to be playing his natural game instead of experimenting with other things such contacts to test and prove
his fitness.
This is something the team describes to be the main factor behind his safety and protection on the ice while playing the game with the same level of effectiveness.
He played against the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday, March 18, 2012, and even though he did not score, it was considered to be a successful run for him.
Crosby said of the match:
"I had a couple of chances in overtime. Just need to execute, and hopefully those will go in. Give their goalie credit. He made some good saves."
Now, he remains upbeat about his health and fitness and expects to improve further, even going for contacts along with the passage of time.
The team has also welcomed the cautious approach from the player, and it is expected that he is going to be available for them for the rest of the season without any problem.
Meanwhile, the team is also excited to welcome defenseman, Kris Letang, who had suffered the similar problem of concussion-like symptoms.
He said he was pleased with the progress he has made in the recovery and was ready to play his role in the team’s run for the playoffs.
