Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Ray Shero praises New Jersey Devils’ manager Lou Lamoriello
50-year-old Ray Shero, who is the general manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins’ team which plays in the National Hockey League had a lot of good words to say about New Jersey Devils’ general manager Lou Lamoriello he recalled the time when he faced 69-year-old
veteran in college hockey.
Shero used to be the captain of Lawrence University whereas Lamriello came as the coach of the Providence College hockey team.
The former ice hockey centre, Shero told that he followed the career of Devils’ general manager and it was great when Lamoriello left the job of Providence College after doing it for a long time and joined the NHL team. While talking to NHL.com Shero said,
"I followed his career when he became athletic director at Providence and then left to go to the Devils in 1987, and to see where his career has gone is fantastic”.
St. Paul, Minnesota native, Shero is also very impressed with the way Lamoriello dealt with the things after becoming the general manager of New Jersey Devils. He thinks Providence, Rhode Island native was very honest in his approach and a role model as
he had joined them at the time when he had just gotten out of university. Shero added,
“I'd just gotten out of school when he went to New Jersey. I think what really stands out to me is his honest approach in dealing with people and with his teams."
The Pittsburgh Penguins’ general manager also talked about the great things Lamoriello told him and advises he gave after becoming NHL executive. Those things helped Shero a lot when he himself took the charge of an NHL team.
Though he could not play any NHL game, Shero was drafted in the 1982 NHL Draft by Los Angeles Kings in the 11th round at 216th overall. He was appointed as the general manager of Penguins in 2006.

"It's a great story coming from college hockey to becoming a Hockey Hall of Famer, and maybe one of the best general managers of all time”.
