Pittsburgh Penguins hosts the Buffalo Sabres in the fourth and final meeting between the two sides
The Pittsburgh Penguins will be hosting the Buffalo Sabres in another game of Tuesday at the Consol Energy Center.
This will be fourth and final meeting between the two sides.
Out of the three games that have already taken place during the course of the season, the Penguins have won all.
They are going for the kill and looking to clean sweep the series.
They won the first two games 1-0 and 5-2 respectively and the most recent meeting between the two sides saw them winning the game 3-2 in the end.
This was the game where the Penguins lost their start player, Evgeni Malkin after a collision with Tyler Myers.
The odds are against the Sabres winning the game and there is a big chance that the Penguins would most probably win the game and clean sweep the series.
But as we have seen that games aren’t won on paper so the Sabres are still in with a chance.
The absence of Captain Sidney Crosby for the first time during the season as the teams meet would give the Sabres a lot of confidence as they look for their first win against the Penguins during the season.
Ever since the Penguins saw their star player Evgeni Malkin suffer from the injury they have managed to come up with only four regulation times out of the 14 games played without him.
However, they have secured at least a point in six games. This isn’t bad considering the fact that the Penguins have lost their two star players who they heavily depended on.
The Penguins are starting to struggle as they haven’t won a game in regulation time for more than a month now. They won their last game 3-2 against the Boston Bruins but after a hard fought battle in overtime.
"I just think it shows our team character," Jeffrey said. "We talk about the losses, but we're getting points, even if they're overtime losses. We're keeping pace and we're two points behind the conference leader. With 16 or 17 games left, it's something
that we can reach."
The Penguins have played 67 games during the course of the season out which they have won 38 games in regulation time, eight games in overtime to score a total of 84 points.
Sabres have played 65 games during the season out which they have won 32 games in regulation time, eight games in overtime to score a total of 72 points.
The Sabres have been able to come up with some decent results which have seen them five out of the last seven games overtime. They won their last game against the Minnesota Wild 3-2 in overtime.
"From an effort standpoint, back-to-back and a tough turnover, I thought our third period, our battle and the amount of puck time we had in the offensive zone was real good," coach Lindy Ruff said.
