Pittsburgh Penguins making offers to Phoenix Coyotes' Shane Doan -NHL Reports
The hottest commodity on the free agent market at the moment is without a doubt Phoenix Coyotes captain, Shane Doan. According to latest reports, Pittsburgh Penguins are also taking a chance at swinging the bat by making offers to the veteran right winger.
Obviously, the team has not disclosed any details at the moment of what type of contract they have offered the captain and how much it possibly might be worth but according to a report that emerged recently on an Arizona newspaper earlier last week, a team
in the Eastern Conference was reported to have made Doan an offer of four-years for $30 million or more.
Doan definitely is worth a lot and seeing how Pittsburgh Penguins is certainly a Stanley Cup winning team, giving him a top notch contract should not be that much of a hassle for them at all.
Pittsburgh is also learned to be in talks with Washington Capitals’ free agent, Alexander Semin, who might be heading to the Russian, Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), if he fails to find anything lucrative in the NHL.
It is a known fact that the Pittsburgh Penguins have less than $10 million to offer per year to any player they sign, which should be more than enough to catch Shane Doan, but since Phoenix Coyotes has been his long-time home, leaving is something he would
like to do in the worst case scenario.
Phoenix Coyotes might be getting an owner after all as the city of Glendale rejected a plea by some residents to hold a referendum for the 20-year lease of the team and the Jobing.com Arena to a group led by former San Jose Sharks executive, Greg Jamison.
The Western Conference club may be getting the owner that Shane Doan has always advocated for in recent months, which have led up to him nearly leaving the team, but with recent progress in that regard, he might just backtrack on his decisions sometime soon.
With the loss of Jordan Staal to the Carolina Hurricanes and Zach Parise to Minnesota Wild, Pittsburgh Penguins are desperately looking for someone to accommodate with Sidney Crosby.
