Pittsburgh Penguins optimistic about Sidney Crosby's latest diagnosis -NHL Update
Suddenly cooling down the speculations about National Hockey League (NHL) All-Star player, Sidney Crosby, having a serious neck injury, not only fans but his teammates on the Pittsburgh Penguins roster were especially thrilled at hearing about their captain’s
latest diagnosis, bringing finally some hope of a full recovery.
These two seasons have definitely been a source of suffering for the 24-year-old superstar who had not been able to play 41 games during the 2011-2012 NHL year and has played only eight this season so far.
After facing a season ending concussion last January, Crosby has not been able to participate with the team properly due to reoccurring concussion symptoms, which are believed to be related with a soft-tissue injury in his neck.
"It's great to know, when something is wrong, to know what's going on," Penguins’ defenseman, Kris Letang, said. "Now he can really focus on getting back and treat whatever is wrong."
Penguins’ general manager, Ray Shero, is also anticipating the player to return so that the team is performing with full throttle as the playoffs get closer with every passing day.
He also lay to rest any potential views of the player resigning or even thinking about the idea.
"He's a hockey player and wants to play hockey, and he sought out other medical treatment to get back to playing the game -- and hopefully, through his efforts, this is going to happen soon," Shero said. "There's been no indication from any doctor where
he would have to shut it down for season or retire.”
Sidney Crosby showed some good signs when he participated in his first practice session with the team in the Consol Energy Center, which was a few days after he was diagnosed with the neck injury, which had players like Brooks Orpik hoping for the best.
Getting Sidney Crosby back to health is the top most priority at the moment as the face of the franchise remains crucial to their success not only in this season but also when the team heads off to the playoffs later on.
Pittsburgh currently sits at number five in the Eastern Conference with 62 points.
