Pittsburgh Penguins rebound against Boston Bruins 5-3 -NHL Update
Pittsburgh and Sidney Crosby just had another amazing night as the superstar captain picked up three points, leading Penguins to a 5-3 victory over defending Stanley Cup champions, Boston Bruins, Tuesday night, April 3, 2012, at the sold-out TD Garden in
Boston, Massachusetts.
Playing against team that is defending the most coveted prize in the hockey world is one thing and beating them is obviously another.
"I mean, it's important and it was a pretty emotional game so any time you play one like that you've got to really bear down and find a way to get up for the next one the same way," Crosby said. "It was probably a little slower than both teams would have
liked out there -- a little bit choppy at times -- but we did some really good things. (Goaltender Brent Johnson) made some big saves for us, special teams were good, so we’ll build off of it knowing we have two more important games here before the playoffs."
Sidney Crosby and Paul Martin scored the first two for Penguins kicking off the match in the opening round as Benoit Pouliot added Boston’s first at 16:57.
Milan Lucic shot the equaliser at 18 seconds into the next period of regulation but Pittsburgh was right there to take the lead yet again as James Neal and Sidney Crosby capitalised on the same penalty with two Boston players out. Daniel Paille and Rich
Peverley were called for charging and high-sticking respectively, giving Pittsburgh a huge 5-on-3 man advantage.
Arron Asham made the insurance goal for Penguins at 6:15 into the third while Peverley added his second of the night and their final.
Coming out of a huge match against Philadelphia Flyers which involved a team brawl in the final minutes had Penguins charged for their upcoming contests. Penguins will not be returning home to finish off the 2011-2012 National Hockey League (NHL) regular
season against New York Rangers on Thursday and Philadelphia Flyers yet again on Saturday.
Boston Bruins on the other hand, will be going up North to face Ottawa Senators on Thursday with the regular season finale at home against a playoff yearning Buffalo Sabres team.
