Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby expected to update media on status of health –NHL Injury Update
It is not hard to notice that Pittsburgh Penguins All-Star player and captain, Sidney Crosby, is not that kid anymore as he was during the 2005 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft when he was selected as the teams’ first overall pick during round-one
of the event.
Crosby is now facing much tougher questions which regard the most important aspect of his life on the ice and off of it, his health. In a move to break the silence and clear all rumours and speculations that have arose during the past months after he went
out in January due to severe concussion problems.
The 24-year-old is scheduled to address the media during a press conference at the Consol Energy Centre, home of the Pittsburgh Penguins, on Wednesday at 12:30 pm in the afternoon.
Whatever the situation and outcome might be, Penguins general manager, Ray Shero, is all about letting him recover, even if it means him being out for the full season.
"I don't have Sept. 16 on my calendar for him, or Oct. 6. My only concern is his long-term health, keeping in mind he's a hockey player, a 24-year-old kid", Shero said last month in addressing concerns about Crosby's recovery. "I want him to feel good about
himself. He'll be back at some point to play hockey".
Rumours arose as soon as recent reports were released that the NHL sensation had not played any game since January 5, and that there is still much uncertainty about him coming back any time soon. Some reports even went to the extent to say that Sidney Crosby
will be retiring from ice hockey, but it is still highly unlikely.
Last week, Crosby came out with a statement after quite a while, but still has not satisfied his fan base.
"I appreciate all the support I've received from my family, friends, teammates and fans and from the entire Penguins organization", Crosby said.
Wednesday is expected to bring about good news for one of the top players of the league, as he looks to brief about his situation.
