Evgeni Malkin, as so I've heard, would be traded to Los Angelos Kings for Anze Kopitar and whoever his winger is. Would this be considered a good trade or should the Pens keep Malkin?

  1. Raccoon for Frankenstein JR. ?

The Pens, defiantly should keep Malkin, it would not be a good trade.

  2. Bad move and I don't think it will happen.

  3. Should the Pens keep Malkin?  If they can afford him!  I heard he's looking for mega-bucks, but the Pens won't be pay him $10 or $11 million per year.  If he's willing to give a "home town discount" like Sid did, they'll keep him.

This trade would be good for the Pens if they get Kopitar and Frolov, AND sign Hossa to a multi-year deal with the money they save from not having to pay Malkin.

Personally I don't want it to happen, but with a salary cap, and the fact that Sid took much less than he's worth, Malkin just might price himself out of Pittsburgh, and it would be best if we got something for him now instead of letting him walk for free.

  4. As a Pittsburgher and Pens fan the only way I could see us trading Malkin is if we got a bounty in return.

    For Example:

Malkin to Chicago for: Jonathan Toewes, Patrick Kane, Brent Seabrook, and a 1st round pick.

Malkin to LA for: Anze Kopitar, Brown or Frolov, Jack Johnson, and the 2nd overall pick.

  5. WHo plays the wing with Kopitar? Frolov?  Both players are good, but I think it would be a mistake for the Pens to get rid of Malkin.

  6. The whole purpose of playing hockey is to win the Stanley Cup. You want players that are effective every time they are on the ice, including the Stanley Cup finals. Malkin did NOT show up for the finals therefore he needs to be traded. Trade him while he has a lot of value and get two young guys who have a heart to win.

When the Wings were trying to win the cup back in the early 2000's they had a few amazing players who would NOT produce in the playoffs (Paul Coffey and Keith Primeau) so they traded both of them for Brendan Shanahan.

That trade is what the Wings needed to eventually hoist the Cup. A top notch power forward with a heart is always better than a league leading wussy defensemen and a pansy a.ss forward who is afraid to crash the net.

  7. That would be a horrible trade.

There is only one way you can go about trading a guy like Malkin: Trade him for a guy that has equal value to him. & there aren't many guys like that, so it looks like Malkin is staying.

If you trade him for 2 or 3 players, like people are suggesting, don't you agree with me when i say that that is going to cost A LOT in the long run?

  8. The Trade would be Kopitar, Dustin Brown, and the 2nd pick overall.  I think this is a must do trade.  I do relize Malkin is the third best player in hockey and I am not down on him cause of the finals.  If the Pens do this...the then can sign Hossa, Malone, and Fluery.  And by the way Kopitar was an all-star, Brown had 33 goals, and the second pick will be a great player (Malkin was a second overall pick) .  And it's a great trade for the kings to get a premier player like Malkin could change their fortunes.

  9. I say go for it. That way he wont be playing too late in the year, you know, so he doesn't get tired.

  10. It would be a great trade for both teams.

Kopitar is already a legitimate superstar.  He's only going to get better. Put him with good wings in Pittsburgh, you'll see how good he really is.

Malkin with Frolov! You can't ask for a better duo.

  11. im from pittsburgh and i think the pens should keep malkin. he was 2nd in scoring in the regular season and hes going to just get better and become more of a leader. as for the trade it wouldnt be a bad trade the pens would only do it to free up cap though for players like ryan malone and brooks orpik.

  12. This would normally be a no-brainer, but not in today's NHL with a salary cap.  The easy answer is, yes keep him.  The tough part is figuring out how.  Trading for Kopitar they would at least be getting something back, but Kopitar is far from being Malkin's equal.

  13. where did you hear this at?? & i think it would be a bad trade.

  14. Not in a million years.

  15. Actually i heard it was Kopitar and the #2 pick for Malkin and possibly something else?  You'd think the Kings would want to keep Frolov and team him up with Malkin so as to have the 2 Russian forwards playing together.

  16. If we trade Malkin I will riot.
