Pittsburgh Pirates crash to humiliating 3-9 loss against Los Angeles Dodgers – MLB Update

Pittsburgh Pirates crashed to a humiliating 3-9 loss against Los Angeles Dodgers at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, August 15 in third game of their four match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Credit should be given to the Dodgers for dominating their opponents away from the comfort of their home. Dodgers secure a narrow 5-4 win in series opener. With momentum on their side, they annihilated the Pirates 11-0 in Game 2.
Showing great composure and temperament, Los Angeles secured another comfortable 9-3 win on Wednesday to take an impassable 3-0 lead in the series.
Pirates, on the other hand, will be extremely disappointed with their effort in all three games of the series so far. The recent dip in form has sent them to third place on the National League Central Division and it will be interesting to see if they come
out of the slump soon to have any chance of making it to the playoffs.
Starting pitcher Wandy Rodriguez was hit hard by the Dodgers as he gave up ten hits and five runs in just over five innings to take his 12th loss of the season. Dodgers’ batting line-up tackled him extremely effectively to score runs consistently.
"It was a great night," Dodgers’ starter Clayton Kershaw said. "Any time you get that many runs, you just try to attack the strike zone and make them beat you. Fortunately, tonight I didn't walk anybody. Yeah, they got some hits, but when you have a 9-2
lead... you go out there, pound the zone and let your defense work."
"We were able to tack on runs that were there for us if we were able to put the ball in play," Dodgers’ manager Don Mattingly said in a post game interview. "And we were able to do that tonight."
Relief pitcher Chris Resop also made the ultimate price for lack of preparations as he conceded four run and four hits in just an inning to let Dodgers take complete control of the situation. Garret Jones and Andrew McCutchen were the only bright spots in
a forgettable loss for Pirates.
